And the winner is Crotone!

Well we have finally decided on a destination, Crotone in Calabria. Yes I know what your thinking, I’d never heard of it either. 

Crotone  is a city and comune in Calabria. Founded 710 BC as the Achaean colony of Kroton, it was known as Cotrone from the Middle Ages until 1928, when its name was changed to the current one. In 1992 it became the capital of the newly established Province of Crotone. As of January 2016, its population was 62,178.

We have made contact with the local Italian congregation which has a small (only 3 publishers) english group associated with it. It’s a bit daunting, we will be thrown in the deep end as there are only English meetings on the weekends. We are trying to learn Italian but it is difficult when no one else speaks it around you. Hopefully when we are immersed in it in Crotone we will pick it up a little quicker. 

There is a Canadian couple that are there for 3 months but will probably have to leave because of visa issues at about the time we arrive so if they can’t sort out their visa issues there is the possibility that we will be able to take over their apartment. We are hoping that the stay because we need all the help we can get.
